About the San Diego Hoʻolauleʻa
The San Diego Hoʻolauleʻa is an annual Hawaiian cultural festival celebrating the spirit of aloha through live music, hula, and community. First held in 2011 by Uncle Jordan and Aunty Marla Martin, the event was revived in 2024 and is now hosted by Hālau Hula o Makalani Nā Pilialoha, based in Vista and Chula Vista. Held at NTC Park in Liberty Station, the Hoʻolauleʻa highlights vendors from the Hawaiian and Pacific Islander community right here in San Diego.
What to Expect at the Hoʻolauleʻa
Live Entertainment: Hawaiian music performances and hula dancing, both kahiko (ancient) and ʻauana (modern) styles, from hālau hula schools near and far.
Cultural Village: Educational activities and exhibits celebrating the rich history and traditions of life on the Hawaiian Islands.
Makahiki Games: Traditional Hawaiian games and activities for all ages.
Food & Vendors: Food vendors, boutique vendors, and information vendors. A great opportunity to find Hawaiian and Pacific Islander goods, gifts, and food.
Raffles & Giveaways: Drawings and prizes throughout the weekend.
