Matsumoto Shave Ice Is Coming to Irvine

For the first time in its 75-year history, Matsumoto Shave Ice (the legendary family-owned institution in Hale’iwa on O’ahu’s North Shore) is coming to the mainland. In partnership with Ryoko Rain, the Orange County-based luxury streetwear brand rooted in Japanese heritage and community, this two-day celebration brings authentic Hawaiian shave ice to Southern California.

On Saturday, June 6, the historic mainland debut takes place inside the Ryoko Rain storefront at Irvine Spectrum Center. On Sunday, June 7, the celebration continues at Tanaka Farms with a full-day Luau Festival featuring live Polynesian dance performances by Mevina Liufau and Tavake Rereata Dance Studio, local food trucks, hands-on cultural booths, and exclusive collaboration merchandise.
