Orange County Artist of the Year

ATTENTION DANCE INSTRUCTORS and KUMU HULA: Have you yet heard about the Orange County Artist of the Year Award? Presented by The Orange County Register, Orange County Music and Dance and the Orange County Department of Education, the OC Artist of the Year program recognizes Junior and Senior level high school students who demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Talent and Technique
  • Artistic Vision
  • Heart (the intangibles)
  • Growth and Impact

For the DANCE discipline, our local halau and dance studios can submit up to two (2) nominations under the Cultural Specialty. TEACHERS and PRIVATE INSTRUCTORS must fill out an online application by FRIDAY, JANUARY 19. The process is fairly simple, you’ll need to provide:

  • contact information for you and your nominated student
  • written statement

Once you have submitted your information, the STUDENT portion of the application is due on FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 2. They’ll need to submit:

  • contact information
  • two written statements
  • art samples (example: performance video)
  • resume
  • a signed nomination agreement
  • a photo to print in the newspaper (optional)
